Why
are you doing this?
I
explain on my About Me page.
How
can I donate?
You
find detailed information as well as all contact and
bank details on the pages introducing the four charities,
which you can reach by clicking on their logos displayed above or in the
menu on the left.
Are the beneficiaries trustworthy and will my
donation be safe?
A
definite yes to both questions:
All
four organisations have excellent reputations and are recognised as
non-profitable charities by the German or American state.
All
online transactions are processed through encrypted web pages.
Why should I donate to a
German charity?
Well, Haiti is far from Germany,
and medica mondiale
works internationally.
To
support LGBT youth work, you have the choice between
Lambda
in Germany and the Matthew
Shepard Foundation in the USA.
Both do an excellent job promoting diversity, compassion and
(self-)acceptance, and both deserve your trust.
Does anyone profit from
this except the charities quoted?
No. Donations are made immediately to them; all other
expenses are paid for privately.
Are the donations
tax-deductible?
Donations to HaitiCare, medica mondiale
and
Lambda are tax-deductible for German residents;
donations to
the Matthew
Shepard Foundation are for US residents.
Unfortunately there is no way to realise this internationally.
If you provide contact information with your donation, you will be sent
receipts directly by the organisation/s.
Why does this website look weird on my
computer?
Well, I had hoped it wouldn't...
I'm
not a web programmer but an ordinary person most familiar with office
applications.
Therefore I used (quite dated) WYSIWYG software instead of an HTML
editor.
The
site appears to work best with the Internet Explorer, but Firefox is
alright, too, apart from some frames being displayed in grey instead of
the green they should be. I haven't been able to test it with other
browsers but hope that they will at least show the information.
If you are a computer wiz and
fidgeting to offer help tweaking it, I will love to hear from you...
:-)

What will you do after August 1st?
I will enjoy the many other events of the Games week in Cologne and be a
volunteer there.
Then I'll have to
find words to thank you all for your fabulous generosity.
And after
taking it easy for a few weeks,
I'll look forward to doing this again in
Cleveland:
